Ever thought of performing at a music festival?
Each month inside Sax School we do a Guest Session where we talk with pro players about their experiences performing and touring with the world’s greatest bands and artists.
But this month we wanted to do something different…
For this guest session, I wanted to share some advice about playing at a music festival, what’s involved and why it’s a great thing to do (if you get the opportunity!)
Over the years I have performed at many jazz festivals in Japan, Australia, the Far East, Europe, and the UK. Each festival offers something different and is a great learning opportunity.
Chris from the Sax School team has just come back from playing a run of shows at the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival – his first “festival” experience.
We got together for this session and had a chat about the pros and cons of performing at a festival, plus how to get your festival gig AND how to make the most of the opportunity when it comes!
Plus we get a first-hand account of what life is like playing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! (very cool!)
