Knowing where to start with improvising is a common problem for all sax players. Even I struggled with knowing how to play a convincing improv solo when I was first learning.
One thing that really helped me was developing a strategy, or framework I could rely on. Plus, having some simple exercises to develop my improv skills, that I could use every time I practiced my sax.
In this lesson, I share one of my favourite easy improvising exercises. It is actually from the “Introduction to Improvising” mini-course, which is a brilliant place to start learning.
Enjoy!
