Our Monthly LIVE Masterclasses are a highlight in the Sax School calendar where we connect with members from around the world and share tips. Each session we have members volunteer to play for the group for one-on-one help from Nigel.
In the March LIVE Masterclass
This month we had three brilliant volunteers who played pieces from the Sax School lesson library.
Mark from the UK kicked things off with a brilliant performance of “Concierto de Aranjuez”. We discussed how Mark can improve the flow of his playing by developing his breath control. We also explored some tactics he can use for adjusting to his new sax mouthpiece.
Everton from Brazil played Next. Everton is a doctor who often finds time to practice in between shifts at the hospital. He started with Sax School as an absolute beginner about a year ago and is already making amazing progress.
Everton played the big band classic “Satin Doll” for the group and we discussed some tips on articulation to help him get a more “authentic” sound.
Finally, Nic from Norway performed “Swan Lake” from the “Introduction to Classical Saxophone” Mini-Course.
Nic also started with Sax School as an absolute beginner about a year ago. Nic is making amazing progress – he already plays regularly with a local community concert band!
Nigel shared a bunch of tips with Nic on how to be more strategic with his breathing, so he can play longer phrases.
