The notes
We’re going to use the single pentatonic scale that we used in warm up phase 5.
So on tenor sax, I’m playing a G minor pentatonic.
The notes are: G, B flat, C, D F.
The Groove
I’m going to use a drum groove as my backing track. I’m using the Drum Genius app. It’s available here on Apple Store and here on Google Store.

Playing your 1 chord saxophone jam
You can have loads of fun with this exercise if you follow these tips.
- Start simple
- Use that single pentatonic scale to begin with
- Focus on making your playing really rhythmical.
The most important thing is to really get your creativity going in your saxophone playing. Have fun with it.
