Many pop tunes fall into just a few chord “patterns” so it’s important to understand these in order to be prepared for any pop soloing situation.
In this lesson we look at the solo section at the end of the Prince song “Purple Rain”.
This is a classic tune that you might get a chance to play in a band / gig situation. I like it because the solo section has a descending chord pattern that is pretty common in this style of power pop ballad.
In this lesson you’ll learn some strategies for how to improvise over this descending pattern.
