An iconic 80’s saxophone line
If you were listening to pop music in the 1980’s you couldn’t really miss “Your Latest Trick” by Dire Straits. It was a HUGE hit, but as a saxophone player the best part was the amazing saxophone line recorded by legendary player Michael Brecker.
The original was recorded on tenor sax, which left all us alto players out.
However, this week in Sax School I’ve added a lesson showing you how to play this iconic sax line, on your alto sax!
Can you play Latest Trick on Alto Sax?
Moving the tenor line for “Your Latest Trick” to alto saxophone puts the music in a pretty advanced key – Bb Minor. So this is an advanced lesson with a lot of flat notes.
However, if you aren’t quite ready for the original key then we also have lessons in Sax School where you can learn this tune in an easy key for alto sax. This is a great starting point.
