The thought of playing on stage is terrifying for most people. Especially if you are new to playing saxophone or have never played in public before.
Imagine how you would feel stepping up onto the stage for a jam session the very first time.
Nearly all of us find that a horrifying thought – and yet experienced performers find it easy. What’s the secret?
A strategy for performing success
I recently went to see a couple of brilliant comedy shows in the same week. And I had never actually been to a big comedy show before.
And I mean BIG – the first was Michael McIntyre who performed at a sold out arena of 13000+ people. The second was another British comedian Sarah Millican. Again, a sold out room. This time a 1000 seat theatre.
As an audience member I was completely captivated for both shows. I felt like I was the only person in the room – until I looked around and realised that thousands of other people were having the same experience.
The audiences loved the show. The performer looked so confident, in control and relaxed.
It reminded me of the 3 step strategy that I have always used when performing. It’s simple, but just about every performer I know uses it.
3 Steps to Success
In the video today, I’ll share with you three things you can do to become more confident with your performing.
They aren’t difficult to do. A lot of it has to do with just changing the way you think about performing.
I know these things helped me. Let me know in a comment below if they help you too!
