Firstly, I just want to say that I’ve had loads of great comments and emails about my new Creative Improvising for saxophone Mini-Course. Check this out:
Fantastic simple and novel introduction to how to approach improvising. It is the best approach to structuring improvisation that I have come across. A huge help to me, Nigel…thanks so much. And thanks to the great value Sax School is providing…very regular new lessons and mini courses.

Wow!
If you have ever struggled to learn improvising on saxophone, or feel like your jazz playing has hit a roadblock, then my Creative Improvising course is right for you.
What’s in the course
Creative Improvising for Saxophone is a series of exercises designed to push you out of your comfort zone so you explore new sounds, shapes and styles in your improv.
This is important because it’s only by “stretching” our creativity that we can “grow” our creativity.
After all, your creativity is something that needs regular exercise, just like your tone or technique.
New this week:
This week inside Sax School, I’ve added a new lesson in the Creative Improvising series. This time we look at a Note Challenge.
My Note Challenge is a series of exercises where you focus on specific chord notes or anchor tones when improvising. It sounds easy, but if you do it right, these exercises will really test you.
And, they will help you become a more confident and fluent improviser on saxophone!
